Discuss a Case with Us
Have a case you need to consult on? Call us directly at 202.567.2089 or via email at AVO@friendshiphospital.com.
Emergent cases can be referred through Friendship’s urgent care/emergency service for transfer to ophthalmology. The attending doctor can contact Dr. Armour for cases admitted after hours.
Glaucoma & Cataract Cases
Dr. Armour’s residency was heavily focused on potential surgical and medical therapeutic options for patients with glaucoma. If you have a case of acute glaucoma, please let us know as soon as possible, as we are outfitted with endocyclophotocoagulation and goniovalve/goniotubing capabilities, as well as trans-scleral therapy.
For cataract surgery in high risk breeds for glaucoma or postoperative hypertension (cocker spaniels, huskies, labradors, etc) Dr. Armour will often prophylactically endolaser to decrease the risk of complications in the future.
What To Expect When You Refer a Patient to Us
We will work collaboratively with you to ensure the best care for any patient your refer to us. We typically send discharge instructions home with the pet owner and also email a copy to your office. We usually follow up with a phone call the same day to discuss the patient’s condition or collaborate on treatment options, medications, etc.
